The International Scientific Conference ‘An Encyclopaedic View on the Biography and the Creative Work of S. Yesenin’ will be held on the 22nd -24th of September in Moscow, Ryazan and Konstantinovo.
On the 23rd of September the Conference will take place in Ryazan State University named for S. Yesenin. The guests invited to the opening ceremony that will start at 10 a.m. are T. Panfilova, Vice-chairman of Ryazan Region Goverment; Minister for Education N. Bushkova; Head of Culture and Tourism Committee E. Tsareva.
The Conference will gather scientists from the USA, China, Bulgaria, CIS Countries (Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Uzbekistan), more than 20 regions of Russia — from Moscow and Ryazan up to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski.
The meetings held there will be plenary and sectional sessions, round table discussions, presentation of more than 20 new editions devoted to S. Yesenin published in 2011.
The attention of the scholars will be concentrated on the preparation and issue of a grand-scale academic project — ‘The Encyclopaedia of S. Yesenin’, that will contain over 2000 reference articles about the works of the great poet, facts from his life and work biography, his surrounding, memorial places and the literary heritage research centres, his image in the world culture.
The Conference is being held on the basis of long-term productive co-work of Ryazan State University named for S. Yesenin, World Literature Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and State Reserve Museum for S. Yesenin.
On the 24th of September the Conference will come to an end in the homeland of the great poet — Konstantinovo village — and the head of International S. Yesenin Association ‘Radunitsa’ will be elected there.
